Dear Campers,

Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, an establishment created for people like you. People like me, you ask? Yes, it’s true; as some of you may have guessed before you arrived here, you are not like a great many of the people around you. Perhaps you’ve noticed things that other people seem not to see, or have seen things that haven’t happened yet – maybe you see things differently from your friends and family. Perhaps during the course of your life, you have even seen something supernatural – monsters, if you will.

Let me tell you now, dear campers, that no, you are not going crazy. Insanity is just a convenient cover-up that mortals use because they can’t see all of what you’re seeing. What you are, campers, is not crazy; what you are, is half-bloods.

To use a term that might be more familiar to you: You are demigods. Every single one of you, regardless of what you may think or “know” your heritage to be, is the child of a mortal and a god of Olympus. Yes, that’s right – the same gods of Olympus you’ve probably read about in your history books, the ones revered by the ancient Greeks. Ridiculous as it may sound—“I know who my parents are – they raised me from a baby!” and all that—it’s true. And that is exactly why you are here.

Camp Half-Blood is a summer (and/or year round, if you so choose) camp and a safe haven for demigods everywhere; not only will you be protected here, but you will also learn ways of protecting yourself out in the real world. Although the quests you may venture out on may be much different than those completed by the most famous of ancient Greek heroes, when we are done with you, you will be heroes all the same.

So come and join us, young heroes, and find the power resting deep inside of you all.
